When Missing Loved Ones Becomes a Lifestyle
I grew upwardly missing people. My father was a visitor man — a corporate nomad — and then when it came time to move over again, we packed upwards and went where the career opportunities led him.
The only identify he ever declined to move was Utah. That's considering no ane in their right listen agrees to motility to Utah. (Hey, no criminal offence.)
Growing up, I missed friends, neighbors, and classmates across six states. Relationships were temporary. Living hundreds of miles from relatives, we visited them once or twice a yr. For 7 years, my dad worked second shift so he could climb that corporate ladder; ofttimes I missed him, as well.
When I attended college, naturally it was out-of-state. Then, I landed a corporate job much like his and continued the nomadic lifestyle of corporate relocations and missing people.
Once I became a parent, however, I sought to ensure that my own girl didn't grow up missing people she loved. I wanted to give her the souvenir of being "from" somewhere. I wanted to requite her the gift of non continually feeling loss or separation from all that was familiar.
We now live a stone'south throw from my parents and other family. Corporate nomads eventually find their oasis, and it's rarely at the top of the organizational ladder.

"Tears in Heaven" and others are so poignant. The songs that touched my center later on losing loved ones may non even accept been ones like this, just ones that we used to sing together or had other meanings. Time does heal the initial pain of losing loved ones, hard as that is to believe when we commencement lose loved ones.
As to your daughter, having a domicile base of operations and long-lasting friendships, she is fortunate. Some families have no choice in the matter. I am thinking of military families, those who serve as diplomats, etc.
Thanks for sharing a part of your life with the states.

I never forgot, nor stopped loving my kickoff girlfriend. Nosotros were together for six brilliant years. She couldn't survive a heart assail 7 years ago when she was all alone at home.
Have you e'er experienced a cut caused by a paper on your fingers? It doesn't look much, but it burns deep downward inside and burns bad. Missing someone you know you lot can never see her, agree her, hug her, someone you tin never look in her eyes and tell her how you love her is excruciating.

I met my soulmate while living in Europe as a teenager. We'd spend ours days dreaming most a future together. Only, her family abruptly left the country and disappeared. The day I watched her board the plane crying is among the worst days of my life.
We knew nosotros'd probably never see each other again and promised to e'er think, and find each other in the next life.
In the years since, I've searched, but never establish whatever trace of her.
And, while my life went on, I've never forgotten her.

She was a adult female who with a high school educational activity supported 3 young kids after her husband had a massive stroke at age 33 (and lived merely needed to acquire how to walk, talk and feed himself). All her life, I am sure that she missed the man he used to be and the life she used to accept. But y'all didn't hear her griping. People could borrow a good role model. Thanks for reading. We used to use things like music to cope with feet and depression.
